See So i finally got it to work on a basic level. I used bookmarks and cross-references. This solution is not ideal because it does not automatically update in real time and he formatting always reverts to that of the original bookmark.

For example, my bookmarked text for the 'client name' at the beginning of the document is size 16 and bolded, etc, and when I want that name to repeat in the document at a normal size 11, unbolded, (using a cross reference to a bookmark) it's replaced with the large size 16 and bolded text.
