Shadow On Text Powerpoint For Mac

I have a text box with text that has been animated. The text has a shadow. When transitioning to the next slide, the shadow of the text transitions and appears on the slide; when I click, the text then appears over the shadow??? This is maddening!! There seems to be no way to make the shadow appear with the text. I've tried to apply the shadow to the text box; selecting all the text and applying the shadow. Nothing works.

I just tried to repro the problem here in 2011 and can't, whether I apply a shadow to the text itself or to the shape that holds the text. Powerpoint Text Shadows Don't Print

I'm trying to make text in the data label of the chart with shadow effect (that shadow effect which you have at top of the PowerPoint menu), but I'm unable to make it work, dataLabels.shadow or dataLabels.font.shadow makes the frame shadowed, not the text. I was googling a lot, I have found out this could be possible via TextFormat or TextFormat2 property, unfortunately I'm not able to access it for the text in the data label anyhow.
